The Voice

John 10:27  My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: (King James Version)

Parents around the world will agree with me on this! How many times have you been in a crowded place and your kids were not even with you, yet when you heard MOMMY or DADDY your head immediately turned in the direction of the sound? You just knew you heard YOUR kid’s voice above the noise! You had to laugh at yourself because you knew exactly where your child is at that moment and they could NOT be calling you!

Another parent moment is when you are in a crowd and you hear a small voice calling you and you KNOW that it’s your child. I mean, there is no doubt that your baby is calling you and you turn to see what may be wrong. How is it that you could tell this voice belonged to YOUR child? Amazing isn’t it?

We recognize the voice of our children because we know them and they know us. Living together, loving each other, and spending time with them, enables us to get to know them intimately. I often have said that I KNOW my children, I know what each of them are capable of doing and I know what certain behaviors belongs to each one. If you tell me someone did such and such, I can tell you who did what without you telling me the name. That comes from experiencing the good and bad sides of each and them and learning their likes and dislikes.

In 2013, I long for the same relationship with my Savior. It is time that I do His Will before my own and do it well. If He says go left, I will go left. If He says stop and stand still, STAND STILL I WILL! We truly have no time left for playing games with the thing called life and take our Christianity more serious than ever before.

Just last week, on the same day, two of my friends called on me to pray for them. I was humbled that they thought of me when they needed someone to pray! Who me? The same lady who feels always in the middle of a mess? The same one who at times talks a good game but inside is scared and seemingly on the edge all the time? Who am I that I could pray for someone else when I need prayer myself?

In my moment of self-doubt, God showed me that if I am His follower, why should I not be the one called on to pray? Who else can His people go to, if not me, a proclaimed believer in the One who can fix all things? I was reminded once again that it is not about me. There is no goodness, on my own, to do anything. But as I yield my will to His, as I listen to His Voice, telling me what to do – I CAN DO ALL THINGS!!!

Are we doing everything in our power to live out His purpose for our lives? Are we learning daily to weed out the noise of the world and hear His Voice above all others? How can I know His Voice? I know that I need to spend more time with Him intimately so that I can always know that it is truly His Voice that directs my every step.  I encourage you to do the same! We can make this year our best ever – living fully and completely in victory and service as we win others to Christ with our testimonies!

I hear Him calling me and my answer is completely and fully YES!!!!!

Victorious Living Means I Will Hear His Voice and Obey Even if It’s Uncomfortable!

Psalms 23 tells us that as we are led beside the still waters, our souls are refreshed. My prayer is that the words shared here will help to lead you to that place where you can find peace. Only in Christ Jesus is there fullness of joy!
