If I Could Preach!

Romans 5:1-5 – King James Version

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:  By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.  And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;  And patience, experience; and experience, hope:  And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

If I could preach, boy oh boy, what I would scream from a mike today! I was listening to Pastor Jenkins out of Maryland via his church’s website of archived sermons on the series The God of Much More and he used the above scripture. I have found that in this season of my life, I must saturate my spirit man with the word of God to keep my mind focused on the path that God has laid before me. What strikes me is how I have read this scripture many times, as we all have done with so many others!

If I could preach today, I would tell my waiting congregation about the joy and peace we have in God when we determine that come what may – we will trust Him! I would tell the people that I now have such a peace in my heart beyond what I ever thought I could have.

If I could preach today, I would talk about the access we have to this thing called grace that will not only cover our sins but give us a place to run to when our world seems to be crumbling! This grace that we simply stand in when life sifts us as wheat. We can assuredly bask in the hope we have that the glory of God will be revealed in us and through us as we ride out the storms with our hands raised in praise!

If I could preach today, I would tell somebody that these troubles may seem so overwhelming but it is because of them that we are being stretched and are growing into what He would have us be regardless of how it feels! Hallelujah!

If I could preach today, I would say that it may seem foolish to rejoice in trouble but if you think about it in the light of the scripture, we have to rejoice in it because we know that our God will deliver us out of them all and that is reason to shout right there! It’s an opportunity for us to let God be God!

I would tell anyone who would listen about the places I get to go in God because my faith says I can do all things through Christ! Whew, I would have to tell myself – preach Vic!! Cause this message right here makes me want to run on a little further, makes me want to praise Him all the more and makes me not ashamed to tell the world that I’ve been born again!

I am not who I used to be and that makes me want to holler!  This Victoria is growing, moving beyond moments of doubt and discouragement, ever pressing toward the prize and fighting to be all I can be in God! I am justified, I have peace with God, my faith gives me access to His amazing grace, and in the midst of my troubles, I have hope that where I am is not the end of my story!

Well, I don’t have a mike, but I do have this typing thing down pat! (SMILE) So I write and will tell anyone who reads it that I may not know where you are at today but God does. He sees every tear you cry and hears every prayer whispered so low that you can’t hear the words yourself. He knows how hard it is for some of us to even get out of the bed some mornings. I know that feeling all too well.

I can tell you that yielding my life to His will has been the best decision I have ever made. He took my life and turned it completely around and I didn’t even see it all coming or understand how it came to be. It just happened because He is God and that is all I need to know. I can tell you that if He took my mess and made it beautiful, He can do the same for you!

My mike is my life! My life has to now be the sermon for everyone I come in contact with. Your life too.  We must live in such a way that people will ask about the joy we have! And when they do – be ready to PREACH!!!

Practicing my Preaching Voice as I Live

Author: Victoria E. Henderson Poole

Psalms 23 tells us that as we are led beside the still waters, our souls are refreshed. My prayer is that the words shared here will help to lead you to that place where you can find peace. Only in Christ Jesus is there fullness of joy!

  1. Girl, I HEARD you LOUD & CLEAR! Forget the mike! A mike is an inorganic, artificial method of amplification — it merely increases the volume of sound — any sound, from anyone, from anywhere — its indiscriminate, cold, impersonal, undiscerning, unadaptive, static, unresponsive, DEAD.

But a life???? Ha! Ha! Girl, I’m still hearing you! Don’t preach; LIVE the life (Rom. 6), and let God SPEAK through you! Let your life be the “still small voice” that demonstrates that God still moves mountains, breaks chains and creates NEW creatures! Let your life reverberate with the GOOD NEWS that our Heavenly Father God is able to keep us from stumbling (mercy, somebody) and present us FAULTLESS before the presence of His glory with EXCEEDING JOY when we trust Him enough to follow Him totally despite the scoffers. (Jude 1:17-25). Now, I don’t know how He can do that ’cause I know me. But I’m not the one who made the promise, so I don’t have to worry about the how. Now, if that’s not TRUE amplification, I don’t know what is!

Thanks for speaking to me today, Miss Vick. Love you much
